Part Three - Darling River Run - Broken Hill - Bourke
Never a dull moment on Unshackled Adventures… this time, another detour from the plan.
Welcome to Unshackled Adventures, where we leave behind the busy corporate grind and rewrite our narrative on a journey that knows no bounds.
Along the way we will share motivating tales and many memorable moments. With each new experience, we hope to inspire others to chase their own dreams, find courage in the unknown and celebrate the beauty of stepping outside their comfort zone, to truly live in the present.

If there’s one thing this journey keeps teaching us… it’s this: plans are just a guide. Things will change — often. And when they do, that’s where the magic tends to happen. Every town, no matter how small or remote, has a story waiting to be uncovered… and often those unexpected stops become the most memorable.

After a few days in Moonta catching up on cleaning, restocking, and general maintenance, we set our sights on Crystal Brook and Bowman Park, an RV stop just 5km east of town. According to WikiCamps, it was a simple day-use park—open sunrise to sunset—with toilets, playgrounds, and nature trails. What we found, however, was far more than we expected.

On the next leg of our Yorke Peninsula journey, we farewell Moonta and return to what we love most—coastal camping—with Daly Head as our first stop.

After an unexpected mix up in our beach camping bookings we stumbled across Moonta. This township was definitely not on our proposed travel itinerary for the Yorke Peninsula but as they say “things happen for a reason”. And that it did becoming one of our peninsula travel highlights!!

Prior to reaching the peninsula, Mrs Unshackled had pre-booked several camps over the busy Easter period and into the South Australian school holidays starting 11 April. At the time, we had no idea that rising fuel prices—driven by conflict in the Middle East—would shift travel plans for many Australians.
